Keeping close……

Our sweet Smudge is with us in spirit…his presence all around.  His favorite cushion remains at my feet tucked under the drawing table where he can still keep me company.  Andrew has restored a beautiful drawing space for me…a favorite spot by the window with bird feeders outside filled with Juncos, Cardinals, Chickadees and Goldfinches.

My drawing of the past few days is a pinecone in graphite….it feels good to draw again.

I have found some wonderful photos of Smudgy as a pup and will post them soon…..

  1. Beautiful drawing. The location of your drawing space sounds perfect.

Yesterday on subway, a blind lady came on train with her guide dog. He was so cute — German Shepherd. So professional. She found a seat and I loved the way that he didn’t relax until he was assured that she was fine. When she sat down, he stood for a while and looked around (caught eye contact with me). When everything was okay, he relaxed a bit and sat down. After a few train stops, he eventually relaxed more and lay down at her feet. I just thought it was a wonderful sight. I was really impressed with him. God bless all those dogs (officially working or not and help us out). For some reason, I did not take a photo of them. I was just caught up in watching him. I only came out of my trance when they stepped off the train. In case you’re interested, they got off on the Lincoln Center stop. 😉 Hmm… Now that I think of it, there’s some kind of Blind House/organization located around there.

  2. Beautiful! I don’t want to sound dumb, but is graphite a kind of pencil?
I like the new look of your blog, and the shots of your work and living space.
    Oh, and your buddy, too!

    • not dumb Sandy….graphite just means pencil. I went to your blog I haven’t visited in a while….so many lovely photos…really beautiful! Thanks for the kindness ♥
